Osatu This work seeks to uncover and explain the dynamics of information foraging within small groups. The focus of this work is collaborative information foraging within multidisciplinary emergency response teams during the response to a simulated emergency. The study investigates how such groups distribute their effort between the activities of information seeking and handling (i.e., processing) for information that is unique (i.e., initially held by one member) versus common (i.e., initially held by multiple members). Temporal analysis is applied to the data from a laboratory study of three such groups. The results suggest that temporal analysis may be used to model distribution of effort between seeking and handling, but not how this effort is divided between common versus unique information sources. Opportunities for future research along these lines are identified and briefly discussed. 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Distribution Modeling of Foraging Habitats for Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus) in Kermanshah Province, Iran
The Egyptian vulture, Neophron percnopterus, as a globally endangered species, is significantly affected by conflicts with human, leading to the decline of this species population. Availability of food resources is known as one of the most important factors affecting the distribution of the Egyptian vulture. In this study, we employed an ensemble modelling approach to predict the suitability o...
متن کاملAn extended hesitant group decision-making technique based on the prospect theory for emergency situations
Throughout the present manuscript, we are going to introduce a novel group emergency decision-making technique in which the application of prospect theory explains the psychological behaviour of the decision maker who is affected by the hesitancy and uncertainty of cognition in decision making problems.\Instead of usual aggregation procedure, we implement here a new fusion technique that ...
متن کاملModeling the Outcome of Chlorine Emission Based on Emergency Response Planning Values over 24 Hours Using the PHAST Software (Case Study: Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant)
Background and Aim: Chemical warfare can endanger the security of any country. The present study examined the chlorine gas emission scenario on the outskirts of the Bushehr nuclear power plant over a 24-hour period, so that the study results can be utilized in an emergency response program. Methods: In order to access the data, the area of Bushehr nuclear power plant was investigated in person ...
متن کاملModeling the Consequences Release of Cyanogen agents in Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Neighborhood Using PHAST, ALOHA and WISER Software
Background and purpose Many efforts have been made to use chemical components as weapons throughout history until the Germans first employed chlorine gas cylinders in April 1915 at Ypres Belgium against French and Canadian soldiers. Leaving 5,000 dead and 15,000 injured, it was the first practical application of chemical agents. The Geneva Protocol in June 1925, which was an attempt to pre...
متن کاملHealth Departments’ Engagement in Emergency Preparedness Activities: The Influence of Health Informatics Capacity
Background Local health departments (LHDs) operate in a complex and dynamic public health landscape, with changing demands on their emergency response capacities. Informatics capacities might play an instrumental role in aiding LHDs emergency preparedness. This study aimed to explore the extent to which LHDs’ informatics capacities are associated with their activity level in emergency preparedn...
